Update from Karima, Kenya

Its pretty awesome to send off a team to Kenya knowing that they are going to see the impact that a water well had on a community that they helped fund. About 5 days into their trip now, they can already tell the shift the community has had in the right direction. Rather than being focused on the need for water, the team is helping add new rooms to the school house in Karima because more kids are getting to come to school so the classrooms are overfilled! This is a great problem to have considering just over a year ago members of the community were walking miles to fetch dirty water at the bottom of a 100ft hill. It's great to see the immediate impact that something as simple as clean water is having on a community! With that problem out of the way, Karima's 5000-6000 residents will be able to focus on education and simple business solutions to help their living conditions even more. There future is looking bright and we can't wait to see what God will do through them!

Then the 410 Bridge will match the donation that Artists4Africa will give. So the more we sell, the more we give! No timeline has been set yet but we will let you know as soon as possible. Thanks and we hope you will take part in the good that we are trying to do and in the mission that God is using us for. He is the reason for everything we do! To him be the glory!

Mission Statement.
Thirsty Roots is a For-Profit organization with the purpose of providing needy people with clean water through the selling of merchandise such as t-shirts, wrist bands, hats, etc. Out of the proceeds, 25% will go towards providing safe water solutions in developing countries.

Why Water?
Almost a billion people on the planet don’t have access to safe drinking water and basic clean sanitation. This is the cause of 80% of all diseases and kills more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. It is estimated that 4,500 children die each day due to lack of safe drinking water (UNICEF). This accounts for almost 90% of the 42,000 deaths that occur around the world due to unsafe water and unhygienic living conditions.

How Thirsty Roots Will Help.
You give. We give. It’s that simple. 25% of every dollar you spend will go directly toward providing clean water and basic sanitation to those around the world that need it. Your 25% will go directly to water providing organizations who will handle the drilling as well as the education needed to make sure the necessary steps are being taken to help the villages become more sanitary and clean.

What happens to the rest of the money?
The other 75% of the money goes to as follows:
· 25% toward merchandise cost. This fund will allow us to get merchandise, such as t-shirts, printed. The more revenue we receive, the more we can sell, which means the more we will be able to give away!
· 25% towards business expense. This goes towards travel cost, employee cost, advertising, etc.
· 25% towards profit. By making this a For-Profit organization, it allows us to devote our full time and effort into this organization. The more we are able to put in, the more we will be able to give towards our ultimate goal. Providing clean water for those who need it.
